Susan Benjamin
Who? What? “Medea” Benjamin, like the name she uses, is a scam. Yeah, that’s right. Born Susan Benjamin, daughter of Alvin and Rose Benjamin, New York Jews, in 1952, she never legally changed her name. She adopted the moniker “Medea” as the result of high school studies! Susan also has a lot of Benjamins (slang for $100 notes). About $6.28 million of them, in fact. I don’t think she got them from living in Fidel Castro’s Cuba between 1979 and 1983. Nor did they come from her first husband, a pro-Castro Cuban, married during her time there. Her new husband, Kevin Danaher, is allegedly a “far left” activist, who doesn’t seem to be a source of substantial funds, either. He is a lecturer in sociology at San Francisco State University and adjunct professor at Feather River College, also in California. With his wife Susan and Kirsten Moller, he is a co-founder of Global Exchange, an outfit that “builds people-to-people ties internationally and educates US people about world affairs through Reality Tours, Fair Trade stores, corporate accountability campaigns, and a Green Alternatives Department…” That organization doesn’t sound much like a cash cow. In the mid-1980s, Susan Benjamin worked as a Project Coordinator for Food First, in San Francisco, hardly a stream of dollars. As president, she now controls a foundation, Arc of Justice, (formerly The Benjamin Fund) with assets of $12 million. Keeping it all in the family, Maya Danaher, Susan’s daughter, is treasurer of that body.
So where did beloved “activist” and US foreign policy “opponent” Susan get her Benjamins? The way any American fat cat would: she inherited them. Her father Alvin had been a real estate developer (like Donald J. Trump).

Susan’s Activism. A co-founder of Code Pink in 2002, along with Jodie Evans and Diane Wilson, Susan uses this organization to promote herself and draw attention away from real issues. She organizes marches and demonstrations that make participants and followers feel good but which result in no real action. What can you accomplish walking past an empty government building on a Saturday? Shouting and shaking your fist achieve nothing.
Much like another “radical”, Bernie Sanders, she directs peoples’ awareness away from substantive things and gets them to focus on appearances, i.e., form rather than substance.
Going to Iran in 2009 and Gaza that same year, she used the trips to highlight Code Pink’s “activism”, that is, grandstanding. However, Susan never went to Syria when it was safe. Moreover, she clearly supported the White Helmets, a known terrorist organization supported by NATO.
While the media, including alternative outlooks such as the normally excellent Judging Freedom, support Madam Benjamin, others do not.
Vanessa Beeley
The knowledgeable and well-connected journalist Vanessa Beeley took her on quite forcefully. In a March 2, 2025 article on Substack, the columnist wrote:
Since 2011 when the regime change war began to destabilise Syria and overthrow the Syrian government, CODEPINK has been largely oblivious to the collective punishment of the Syrian people by military and economic means. Suddenly, with Al Qaeda in control of the country and ethnic cleansing operations ongoing against all ethnic minorities in all regions of the country - CODEPINK suddenly want to inform themselves, on the ground, about the debilitating effects of economic coercive measures that have stripped the Syrian people of their dignity and their most basic human rights?
Where were CODEPINK for the last 15 years, one may ask? The answer is they were regurgitating Muslim Brotherhood aka CIA, MI6 [UK external intelligence agency] talking points that sustained the regime change war and permitted US occupation of oil and agricultural resources, the expansion of ISIS and the destruction of Syrian health, economic, industrial, humanitarian and education infrastructure since 2011.
…Code Pink are cleverly packaged controlled opposition. Would anybody be able to show me where CP have actually attacked the UN for its illegal sanctions on Yemen that are enabling the mass starvation of 27 million Yemeni people. A repeat of Iraq.
CP have done nothing but support US intervention since Libya. Please remember they supported sanctions against Iraq that led to the deaths of 500,000 children. Prof. Francis Boyle [internationally recognized scholar of human rights and international law] described it as genocide.
Sanctions are economic terrorism.
Code Pink have also supported the White Helmets in Syria, and they have promulgated colonial media propaganda that has maintained the conflict and the suffering of the Syrian people while, of course, saying they care about the Syrian people.
And There’s More. Here’s my comment on Beeley’s piece:
Remember when Ray McGovern [former CIA official] was beaten up at George Washington U. in D.C. for turning his back on Killary Clinton? Susan Benjamin went to Ft. McNair also in D.C. and harassed Barry Obama repeatedly with questions. She was permitted to do so and escorted out only after the third time. When I asked her at the National Press Club in D.C. about this and how she got onto the base and got away with her questions, she smirked and said, "I have my ways."
To get into Ft. McNair, you notify them a day in advance and provide your name, Social Security Number, and your driver's license.

My Personal Experience With Susan. Some years ago, at an Arab America event, Warren David, an American of Lebanese descent, made a point of introducing me to Mrs. Susan. He heavily promoted my first book, Visas for al-Qaeda; CIA Handouts That Rocked the World, to her. She and her husband couldn’t be bothered with that information or speaking with me, even for a few minutes. Why? I believe that she felt I was of no use to her propaganda efforts. Moreover, in that book, I had severely and accurately criticized the US government for creating and using Islamic terrorism. This is a concept at odds with Susan Benjamin’s “controlled opposition”.
Recently, I raised the Benjamin issue with a knowledgeable and distinguished Palestinian. Her comment was: “I don’t like her either. I would describe her as one of the soft power instruments”.
COMMENT: Susan Benjamin uses her Jewishness, money, and connections to advance herself rather than do anything useful. She is morally bankrupt and fundamentally dishonest.
