What is It? Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2024 will occur on Monday, May 27.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War [War Between the Staes] and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. (History.com).
According to May 27’s Washington Post, it began in the South. According to a book “The Genesis of the Memorial Day Holiday in America,” by Daniel Bellware and Richard Gardiner[,] [t]hey trace it back to a woman named Mary Anne Williams in another city named Columbus — Columbus, Ga. In March 1866, she sent an open letter to newspapers, saying that women in her area had been cleaning and decorating the graves of “our gallant confederate dead,” but that they thought “it is an unfinished work unless a day be set apart annually for its especial attention.”
What It Doesn’t Mean—What It Does Mean. Between June 6-9, 2024, the USS Liberty Veterans organization will hold its 57th anniversary in Arlington, Va., near Washington, D.C. (www.usslibertyveterans.org)
Have they been honored? Will they be honored?
Nope.
USS LIBERTY POST ISRAELI ATTACK
See this except from the website.
ON JUNE 8, 1967, while patrolling in international waters in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, USS Liberty (AGTR-5) was savagely attacked without warning or justification by air and naval forces of the state of Israel. Of a crew of 294 officers and men (including three civilians), the ship suffered thirty-four (34) killed in action and one hundred seventy-three (173) wounded in action. The ship itself, a Forty Million ($40,000,000) Dollar state of the art signals intelligence (SIGINT) platform, was so badly damaged that it never sailed on an operational mission again and was sold in 1970 for $101,666.66 as scrap.
As noted on the website, Ted Arens, a Marine Corps veteran, wrote Binyamin Netanyahu, Israeli prime minister, in 2011. In his letter, he drew attention to another individual, who, while a civilian, was another member of America’s gallant dead: Rachel Corrie, a young college student doing her best to embody what used to be core United States’ values.
Rachel Corie
On Sunday 16 March 2003, Rachel and her fellow ISM [the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement] volunteers were confronting the drivers of two bulldozers who were in the process of razing Palestinian civilian land and homes. For two hours, Rachel and other ISM activists followed the bulldozers, trying to block their passage and hamper their efforts at destruction. Rachel was clearly identifiable in a bright fluorescent orange jacket and was speaking through a bullhorn when she was brutally run over [twice]. Rachel was blamed for her own death. In addition, Rachel was accused of "protecting terrorists", even though the home she died protecting was that of a Palestinian medical doctor.
The Israeli government could have arrested the activists (peaceful protesting is an American right) and whisked them away to jail. But I believe that the Israeli government wanted to make a statement “not even the American government will protect your rights” if you oppose Israel.
I do not believe the Israeli government – I think it is lying.
Has she been honored? Wil she be honored?
Nope,
What about the various Freedom Flotillas that tried to bring vitally needed aid to the Palestinians, oppressed by the Apartheid Entity that styles itself Israel? Or the flotilla members whom the Zionists murdered and imprisoned? Even a former American ambassador to Iraq, Edward L. Peck went to jail. They weren’t soldiers, sailors, airmen, or Marines. Many were not even Americans. But they all bore witness to the meaning of Memorial Day—gallantry, even in death, reflecting U.S. ideals of truth, justice, and honor.
Have they been honored? Will they be honored?
Nope.
Aaron Bushnell.
On Monday, February 26, 2024, Aaron Bushnell burned himself to death in protest against the murders, war crimes, and human rights violation that are a way of life to the Apartheid Entity in its destruction of Palestine and the Palestinians. Mr. Bushnell was U.S. Air Force. He didn’t just make a political statement. He sacrificed his life for Palestine.
In response, the Washington Post did what it did (along with the New Yok Times and Los Angeles Times) to Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance, the account of the CIA’s role in bringing crack cocaine to America. It attempted to kill the messenger—by seeking to smear the man bringing the bad news. The goal is and was and will be to avoid the real story by creating a fake one. The truth-teller is mentally disturbed. The truth-teller has a problem. The truth-teller isn’t telling the truth. So, let’s ignore him and focus on something really important, like the latest sports scores.
Was Aaron Bushnell honored? Will he be honored?
Nope.
Gaza/Rafah/Occupied Palestine. Is American support, political, military, financial, for the terrorist Israelis part of the meaning of Memorial Day? Who are the gallant dead? Certainly not the savages inflicting unimaginable and unconscionable horrors on an occupied people. Murder, war crimes, human rights violations are meaningless words. Israel, with its “most moral” armed forces is starving the Palestinians. It is causing the Palestinians to die of thirst. It is turning off the Palestinians’ electricity.
Israel is bombing refugee camps made up of tents. It began another assault on Rafah just after the UN’s top court, the International Court of Justice ordered a halt to attacks on Palestine.
The Palestinian dead, the Palestinian maimed, the Palestinian missing are countless. Tens of thousands of bodies have been found. How many more thousands are buried under the rubble of what used to be Gaza?

COMMENT. Here are Genocide Joe’s basic remarks at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day 2024:
President Joe Biden, in his Memorial Day message to the nation, said Americans have a "responsibility" to uphold democratic ideals for which so many service members and their families have sacrificed
In a speech at the amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery, on a cloudy morning in Washington, Biden honored those who served in every major conflict since the Civil War.
“Every generation, our fallen heroes have brought us closer,” he continued. “Today we are not just fortunate heirs of their legacy. We have a responsibility to be the keepers of their mission. That truest memorial of their lives. The actions we take every day to ensure our democracy endures. The very idea of America endures.”
BUT did he mention his participation in Zionist Genocide? Here’s the definition:
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide
Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
Killing members of the group;
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
As long as “Israel”, the Zionist Entity exists, as long as American Jews control the U.S. media, as long as the Zionists run the American government, the press and the politicians will work against Truth, against Justice, against what used to be the American Way. Enough is enough. It’s time for Regime Change.
Don’t believe that? Look at America’s enabling of genocide.
The United States, led by Joe Biden and the Democrats, has poured uncounted billions of dollars in weapons and financial aid into the Apartheid Entity. It has also provided diplomatic and political support to that “state”. That is enabling genocide: In addition to the commission of genocide, the convention also made conspiracy, incitement, attempt, and complicity in genocide punishable under international law.
Isn’t that an impeachable offense? Isn’t Genocide Joe Biden standing for re-election as president? Isn’t that more of a crime than Donald Trump’s crookery?
